 Zhangjiajie Summer Tour


While the modern world is a buzz in Beijing and Shanghai, the idyllic villages and natural beauty that abound in the Zhangjiajie National Park is otherworldly. Our inclusive itinerary gives you the chance to hike amid the mist-covered mountains, visit Miao village in Fenghuang Ancient Town, learn the culture of Chinese minorities and still have enough time to take a relaxing raft along the Tuo River. It's truly a magical adventure!

Detailed Itinerary
(The tour starts in Changsha and ends in Changsha)

DAY 1 Changsha

Upon arrival, you will be greeted by your tour guide at arrival lobby of Changsha airport and transferred to your hotel. Feel free to stroll around at your leisure for the rest of the day.

DAY 2  Xiang Embroidery Exhibition Center / Fenghuang Ancient Town

After breakfast, we will visit the Xiang Embroidery Exhibition Center (about 1 hour) and have lunch at Changde, then drive to the ancient town of Fenghuang. It has an exceptionally well-preserved old town area that harbors unique ethnic languages, customs, arts, and many distinctive architectural remains.   Evening sightseeing of this ancient Town. Overnight in Fenghuang.

DAY 3  Fenghuang - Zhangjiajie

Enjoy the beautiful sightseeing of Tuojiang River, Stone-made street, Tujia Minority old Buildings (about 3 hours). Head to Zhangjiajie. Overnight in Zhangjiajie. Recommend: Tianmen Fox Fairy Show

DAY 4   Zhangjiajie  / Tianmen Mountain / Golden Whip Stream

We will go to Tianmen Mountain by the world's longest cable car up to explore. The highest mountain in Zhangjiajie with a height of 1518 meters, regarded as the NO.1 sacred mountain in western Hunan province and the soul of culture and sprit of Zhangjiajjie.  Your guide will take you to explore the best scenic spots such as bus road with 99 turns, The Glass Skywalk, Tianmen Cave and so on. (about 4-5 hours) After lunch, explore the Golden Whip Stream – this charming valley is most likely to bring you into the Pandora's wonderland of the movie Avatar. You will have a leisure hiking along the stream.(about 2 hours)

DAY 5  Zhangjiajie National Forest Park / Avatar Mountain 

After breakfast, visit the World Geological Park by a hundred long elevator, the best lookout and very core of the scenic area, to enjoy the beautiful scenery. You will see the famous “Hallelujah Mountain”, which is the floating mountain showed in the Hollywood movie “Avatar.” (about 2 hours)

After that, a short visit to the No. 1 Natural Bridge and the Enchanted Stage, etc.  (about 2-3 hours)

DAY 6   Lijun Shen Sandstone painting Museum / Baofeng Lake

Recommend: Glass Bottom Bridge ( $80 per person) We will hike to Baofeng Lake where you will take a short cruise on the lake. After lunch, we will enjoy Lijun Shen Sandstone painting which using nature materials by making use of the hue of natural plant creatively, are of great art and collection values. Return and overnight in Changsha. (about 6 hours)

Optional Excursions

The Glass-bottom Bridge: Travelers will be able to walk across the bridge, 985 feet above the ground that connects two cliffs. The walkway is made of large glass panels and can hold up to 800 visitors at once as they walk its 1,400 feet and gaze down into the canyon below. ($80 per person)

Tianmen Fox Fairy show is originated from an ancient Chinese myth and folk tale, "Love between Man and Fox". It is an outdoor musical with Tianmen Mountain and its valleys as the stage. The show is on every night. ($80 per person)

Charming Xingxi Show is composed of numerous song and dance performances by a large number of folk artists from different mountain villages.  If you are interested, please ask your guide to book tickets for you with extra cost. ($80 per person)

Tujia Customs Park is a large-scale cultural tourist attraction, in which the tourists can experience Tujia people´s folk custom in various aspects such as architecture, food, agriculture, military art etc. ($80 per person)

DAY 7   Yangtze River Cruise

The monumental Three Gorges Dam, the world’s biggest hydroelectric project, whose building wrought massive and permanent change to the Yangtze and its landscapes. After viewing this engineering feat, sail through the dam locks and into Xiling Gorge, the longest and deepest of the gorges.

DAY 8    Yangtze River Cruise

Take memorable excursion along the enchanting Goddess Stream or Shennong Stream, beautiful tributaries of the Yangtze. Back on your main river ship, soak in the quiet beauty of the idyllic Wu Gorge with its forested mountains and sheer cliffs; and continue cruising through Qutang Gorge , the narrowest and most dramatic gorge with its spectacular mountains and jagged peaks.

DAY 9    Yangtze River Cruise 

Visit the 12 th-century Shibaozhai Pagoda, a richly decorated, wooden 12-story pagoda built into a cliff face on the Yangtze. Alternatively, depending on river conditions, visit a relocation village, built to accommodate residents of settlements flooded by the Three Gorges Dam.

DAY 10   Chongqing

Disembark your cruise ship this morning at Chongqing and enjoy a visit to the Chongqing zoo, home to giant pandas.
