Detailed Itinerary

(The tour starts and ends in Zhangjiajie (DYG))

DAY 1 Zhangjiajie

Upon arrival, you will be greeted by your tour guide at arrival lobby of Zhangjiajie Dayong airport and transferred to your hotel. Feel free to stroll around at your leisure for the rest of the day.

DAY 2 Zhangjiajie - Fenghuang Ancient Town

We will then drive to the Fenghuang Ancient Town. It has an exceptionally well-preserved old town area that harbors unique ethnic languages, customs, arts, and many distinctive architectural remains. Evening sightseeing of this ancient Town. Overnight in Fenghuang.


DAY 3 Fenghuang - Zhangjiajie

Head to Zhangjiajie. We will go to Tianmen Mountain by the world's longest cable car up to explore. The highest mountain in Zhangjiajie with a height of 1518 meters, regarded as the NO.1 sacred mountain in western Hunan province and the soul of culture and sprit of Zhangjiajjie. Your guide will take you to explore the best scenic spots such as bus road with 99 turns, The Glass Skywalk, Tianmen Cave and so on. (about 4-5 hours). Optional evening show: "Tianmen Fox Fairy Show". ($80 per person). Overnight in Zhangjiajie.


DAY 4 Zhangjiajie National Forest Park / Avatar Mountain / Tianzi Mountain / Bailong Elevator

After breakfast, visit the World Geological Park by a hundred long elevator, the best lookout and very core of the scenic area, to enjoy the beautiful scenery. You will see the famous “Hallelujah Mountain”, which is the floating mountain showed in the Hollywood movie “Avatar.” (about 2 hours)

After that, a short visit to the No. 1 Natural Bridge and the Enchanted Stage, etc.

After breakfast, take the cable car to visit Tianzi Mountain and visit the World Geological Park by Bailong Elevator, the best lookout and very core of the scenic area, to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Enjoy 60 minute foot massage (optional).


DAY 5 Zhangjiajie National Forest Park / Huangshi Valley / Golden Whip Stream Valley

Visit Huangshi Valley in Zhangjiajie National Park which rises 1,080 meters above the sea level. In fact, it is a vast platform, consisting of tremendous steep cliffs, covering an area of 16.5 hectares. The scenery is one of the elite routes, accumulating lots of wonders and interests, including Heavenly Books and Treasure Chest, Sea Calming Needle, Single Pole in the Southern Heaven, Golden Tortoise Popping Over the Sea, and so on. There is a famous saying “ He who does not reach the Huangshi Village does not pay a true visit to Zhangjiajie.” Take cable cars to go up and down the village. We will walk along the Golden Whip Stream which is famous for its pristine water, its verdant mountains, its steep cliffs and its serene valley.


DAY 6 Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge (Optional) / LijunShen Sandstone

Optional: Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge ($80 per person). After lunch, we will take a walk along the brook for some shopping at the local stores and enjoy Lijun Shen Sandstone painting which using nature materials by making use of the hue of natural plant creatively, are of great art and collection values. Tour service ends. If you’re joining us on the Beijing extension, you’ll instead board a flight north to start building yet more incredible memories.

Optional Excursions

The Glass-bottom Bridge: Travelers will be able to walk across the bridge, 985 feet above the ground that connects two cliffs. The walkway is made of large glass panels and can hold up to 800 visitors at once as they walk its 1,400 feet and gaze down into the canyon below. ($80 per person)

Charming Xingxi Show is composed of numerous song and dance performances by a large number of folk artists from different mountain villages. If you are interested, please ask your guide to book tickets for you with extra cost. ($80 per person)

Yellow Dragon Cave lies at the eastern end of Wulingyuan Core Scenic Zone, where tourists can find caves contained in caves, rivers hidden in caves and a large number of scenic spots scattered everywhere. It is just like an underground "magical palace", featuring a wide cave, deep and secluded underground rivers, hanging waterfalls and dense stone bamboo shoots, and showing a style of its own. ($80 per person)

Baofeng Lake is actually not a natural lake. In 1970’s, the local people filled the small faults of the lake with concrete to store water. This was the birth of a beautiful lake. The boat tour on the lake gives a lot of fun with the folk songs by girls in the boat, the tourists are expected to interact with the folk song girls by “cross singing.” The permanent waterfall at the entrance is a wonder. ($80 per person)

DAY 6: Zhangjiajie to Beijing

Today, we’ll make the three-hour flight to Beijing where you’ll check into your charming hotel in the heart of the city. 

DAY 7: Beijing Summer Palace / Temple of Heaven / Panjiayuan Flea Market

Join us on a trip to the spectacular Summer Palace, the former imperial garden and the largest, most well-preserved royal park in China. Between April and October, we’ll also take a scenic boat ride across the lake.

After lunch, relax in the Temple of Heaven, where you’ll be surrounded by stunning imperial Chinese architecture, and experience a traditional Chinese tea ceremony in a local teahouse. Then barter your way through the famous Panjiayuan Flea Market looking for Mao’s Little Red Book and other era-defining artifacts. In the evening, you’ll be treated to a traditional Chinese Peking roast duck dinner. (B,L,D)

DAY 8: The Great Wall of China / Tiananmen Square / Forbidden City / Hutong

Today, you’ll experience one of the Wonders of the Modern World, the Great Wall of China. We’ll explore the wall’s Mutianyu section, where you’ll even have the chance to take an optional Toboggan ride.

After lunch, we’ll benefit from the expert knowledge of a local guide who will lead our visit to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City.

Next, take a cable car down from the wall before heading to Beijing’s old streets and hopping in a Hutong rickshaw. A tour in one of these open-air carts pulled by rickshaw drivers is the most exciting way to get to know this captivating city.


DAY 9: Return Home

We’ll bring you to Beijing International Airport for your flight home after a Middle Kingdom adventure filled with close-up nature panda encounters, insights into local life and tours of striking historic sites.
